Hey girls! Everyone loves to be pampered once and a while, but It can be expensive! That's why I love home made beauty treatments! Sometimes it can be scary, you google face mask recipes and you get back these complex chemistry projects that just seem impossible. I don't know anyone that keeps palmarosa essential oil in their cabinets at all times, so I found a variety of beauty treatments for all skin types and ages, that contain products that can be found in most kitchens :)
Hair:
Lemon Juice Highlights: Pour 1 cup of water and the juice of 2 fresh lemons into a spray bottle. Then spray then entire contents of the bottle into wet hair, put it up into a towel and let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes. I would do this a couple of times to get noticeable results and sitting out in the sun without the towel on helps bring them out sooner. To get red highlights do all the same steps, but with 2 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar.
Body
Tingly Coffee and Salt Scrub: Mix together 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds and 1 tablespoon of salt in a bowl and use it as a scrub in the shower. For a more exfoliating scrub use sea salt!
The Sun Burn Savior: Mix together chilly water, Baking Soda, and Vinegar (optional) to help relieve the sting of sun burns. Just apply where needed!
Yummy Brown Sugar Scrub: Mix 1/2 a cup of Brown Sugar, plus a tablespoon of honey, a dash of olive oil and 1/4 tablespoon of lemon juice. Smells fantastic! Scrub in the shower, then rinse. The time to use it is right before you plan on using self tanner.
Face
You Must be Yolking, Face Mask: In a bowl mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt, 1/2 a tablespoon of olive oil. Smooth onto your face and let sit for 15-30 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Sugar and Honey Exfoliating Scrub: 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of honey and 1/2 a cup of sugar. Scrubs with both sugar and honey in it are a win-win because they both buff away dead skin cells and hydrates which makes your skin silky smooth.
The Sweet Cinnamon Face Mask: 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, makes a fabulous anti-informatory, exfoliating and acne scar erasing paste. Leave on the mask for 30 minutes then wash it off by moving your wet fingers in a circular motion and rinse with warm water.
I love this post. I have been trying to find at home beauty scrubs and masks. I have to try the cinnamon mask. Thanks!
